    Community Update : Week of May 28, 2019

    Understanding the needs of our community is of utmost importance, and at the Thursday May 23rd Board meeting, Makiko Sato with Isom Advisors reported on the results from an April 2019 survey to the Lawndale community. The survey results revealed that our community believes that the district provides an excellent education and that they strongly support initiatives that support improving our school facilities. With a percentage close to 80% of all survey respondents, our community indicated they would vote in favor of a future bond measure to make classroom and facility improvements—especially if the funds generated by the bond would be allocated to projects such as:

    • Building libraries and media centers at the schools that currently do not have them

    • Modernizing outdated classrooms, restrooms and school facilities

    • Making health, safety and handicapped accessibility improvements

    • Repairing deteriorating plumbing and sewer systems

    In November of 2016 the Lawndale community voted to pass Measure L, which provided the district with much needed funds to improve our facilities. This was great vote of confidence in the work that we do and a much-appreciated investment in the district. Thank you, Lawndale voters!
